The Transom

Finally I could pick up my mahogany  from the saw mill and I immediately started making the transom.

I used the Lamello machine to connect the planks.

Here I am trying  to keep the board flat using thick planks, clamping and screwing them to the worktable.

After sanding I chiseled the lines in the wood to avoid splitting when sawing.

All the lines are done.

Cutting out the shape with the jigsaw.

I used the router to make  a round top edge.

Bevelling the sides with a chisel and constantly measuring the angle with a small slat held against the station moulds.

Still some bevels to go.

I nailed some slats on the mould to check how it all lined up with the transom.
